Stanislaus Speleological Association
Meetings

The Stanislaus Grotto holds monthly meetings to discuss issues of interest to the group. These can range form discussions on national caving issues to future trip planning. There is often a slide presentation of past trips and occasional presentations concerning caving equipment and techniques.

Anyone interested in caving, or the science of caves, is invited to attend our meetings. You do not have to be a member to attend meetings - they are open to the public.

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Great Valley Museum Annex building at 1100 Stoddard Avenue in Modesto. This is directly opposite the west parking lot on the main campus of Modesto Junior College, 435 College Ave., in Modesto. Meetings begin at 7:00 PM and are generally over by 8:30 PM. After the meeting several grotto members usually gather informally at a local restaurant for coffee, desert, or a late dinner. For additional information about meetings click on Contacts.

Monthly meetings for August and December are held at other locations. The August meeting is our summer barbeque and potluck, usually held at California Caverns in the Sierra foothills near San Andreas. The December grotto meeting is our holiday party and meeting, including a full dinner. It is held at a member's home in the Modesto area. Elections for the next year's officers and a fundraising auction are also held during the December event.
